This play is about politics, bravery and the power to govern. It describes the life span of the last emperor of the Gupta dynasty, King Skandagupta, who was a proud, patriotic ruler. Songs and soliloquy are an intrinsic part of the play, which helps connect the intense tragedy of the ruler’s private life with his great success in the public domain.
