Chinese hog. 19th-century artwork of the Chinese hog, a breed of the domesticated pig
(Sus scrofa domestica), reared on farms worldwide for its meat. This handcoloured engraving on steel by Scottish painter William Home Lizars (1788-1859) is based on a drawing by James Stewart from ‘Mammalia, Pachydermes or Thick-Skinned Quadrupeds’ (Edinburgh, 1836), part of the ‘Naturalist’s Library’ series by Scottish naturalist Sir William Jardine (1800-1874).

Antique B/W Lithograph
Description: an antique black & white lithography print of the original painting by the artist Pellion made in 1820. An early description of the Francesca bay area near Falkland island. ‘Grabado’ means recorded by the Artist during his travel.
Condition: Excellent considering the 70+ year age of the lithograph. The lithograph is pasted on a handmade paper and the mount is punched to show that it was part of an album as shown in the image.
Marks or identifications: This lithograph is marked with Roman numerical “LI” on the right bottom corner probably indicating a page number of an album.
Size: the size of the lithograph is 43 cm x 32 cm and 49.5 cm x 32 cm (including the paper mount on which it is pasted)
