During the regime of Muhammad Tughlug, Deccan was liberated as an independent kingdom known as Bahmani Sultanate from Delhi in 1347 AD. Soon after 49 years during the regime of Mahumd bin Muhammad in 1396, Zafar Khan established an independent Kingdom of Gujarat when there was confusion in Delhi. Gujarat sultans ruled 178 years after which in 1584 Gujarat was finally absorbed into Mughal empire.
The Kings of Gujarat issued coins in gold, silver, billon and copper. The metrology of Gujarat Sultan coins is very complex and has been based on many assumption and theories. The copper issues of Gujarat Sultans called Falus, this Falus were multiplied and divided into different denomination.
