Art Print, Funeral Procession, Artist unknown
Funeral Procession, Artist unknown, Probably Late 18th century, Oil on Canvas
Print on Art Paper
Print size: 34 x 44 cm / 13.5 x 17.5 inch
According to the 1931 catalogue, the painting represents a typical funeral procession in Northern China under the Qing dynasty. The foreground on the left shows the house of the person who has died. The women of the house stand in front, in an expression of sadness. From the scale and scope of the painting, it could be the funeral of a rich or a noble man.
With receding mountains and trees represented at calculated points, this painting displays melancholy. The deceased person is being? taken in a decorated blue coffin with mourners painted in white garbs behind it. The heads of these mourners are bent forward showing solidarity and carrying wands significant to their offices.
In a rhythmic movement, other persons are seen preceding the coffin, holding banners of various types to honour the soul. Dressed in traditional Chinese attire, all the forms represent a subtle charm in their colour scheme which is further realised by an overall subdued palette. Towards the right is seen an empty sedan chair with a tablet mentioning the name of the deceased. Several objects such as paper figures, articles representing a mountain of gold and mountain of silver are being carried by the people in this funeral procession.

Hand Signed autograph of legendary women tennis player Margaret Court
Margaret Court AO MBE (n?e Smith; born 16 July 1942), also known as Margaret Smith Court, is a retired Australian tennis player and former world No. 1. She is currently a Christian minister in Perth, Western Australia. Court amassed more major titles than any other player in history. In 1970, she became the first woman during the Open era (and the second woman in history after Maureen Connolly) to win the singles Grand Slam (all four major tournaments in the same calendar year). She won 24 of those titles (11 in the Open era), a record that still stands. She also won 19 women’s doubles and 21 mixed doubles titles, giving her a record 64 major titles overall. Her all surfaces (hard, clay, grass and carpet) singles career winning percentage of 91.74 percent is the best of all time according to the Sporteology website.[1] Her open era singles career winning percentage of 91.37% (593?56) is unequalled, as is her Open Era winning percentage of 91.7% (11?1) in Grand Slam finals.[2] Her win-loss performance in all Grand Slam singles tournaments was 90.12% (210?23). She was 95.31% (61?3) at the Australian Open, 90.38% (47?5) at the French Open, 85.10% (51?9) at Wimbledon and 89.47% (51?6) at the US Open. She also shares the open era record for most Grand Slam singles titles as a mother with Kim Clijsters.[3][4] In 1973 Court set the record for most titles won in a single Grand Slam event, with 11 Australian Open wins. This record was surpassed by Rafael Nadal on June 9, 2019 when he won his 12th French Open title.
