The Government of Thailand issued this large 60-baht note to commemorate Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX)s sixtieth birthday. The note measures 159 mm by 159 mm. The obverse paints a divine image of King Rama IX: King Bhumibol is seated on the royal throne wearing a military uniform and the Chakri Dynasty royal robe. The throne is protected by Kranok tongues of flame. The royal emblem is printed in green-to-blue optically variable ink and the bank emblem of Thailand the Phra Siam Theva Thiraj is seated while holding a bag of money and a walking stickare also featured on the obverse side of the note. The reverse side of the note is a picture of the royal family interacting with a crowd. An infinite sky in subdued shades can be seen with a stretch of water in the foreground which reflects the skyline on its surface. Lush green trees form a layered background with architectural elements in white chromes. The central focus is the Government House in Barrackpur, represented as a large white bungalow with the river flowing in front.
Pillared bungalows are reflected in calm waters subtly drawing interest to the left side of the painting, A flag of the Empire stands tall towards the extreme left of the painting, being witness to the sailing boats in the foreground. The tranquil waters show several individuals in their Indian attire, engaged in varied activities atop small boats.
Barrackpore in west Bengal, is the oldest cantonment in India built in 1772. The Government House and the estate were built to provide the Viceroy with a suburban residence outside Calcutta. Barrackpur was also witness to several acts of rebellion against the British in the 19th century. This painting was presented to the Viceroy’s House, New Delhi by Lord and Lady Willingdon.

Vintage Collectible – BULL-FACED DOOR KNOCKER
₹15,100.00 incl. GSTVINTAGE BULL-FACED DOOR KNOCKER : A vintage (70+ years age) Bull-faced Door Knocker in brass with a rigid but hollow torque ring with chased work from the tribal belts of Central India.
This intricately carved home-accent was used as a door knocker. Made in brass (considered to be auspicious as it is a part of ‘Panchaloha’ or the five-metals, these door knockers adorned homes of the nobles.
Size: 8.5 cms (depth of the bull or distance from wall) x 17 cms (length, from top (hook) to end of the ring)
Ring size: 14 x 12 cms
Weight: 600 grams
Condition: Very Good, considering its 70+ year age and as seen, naturally patinated & unpolished. This is a complete piece with no parts missing or damaged. -
